Hey, everyone! Guess who's officially an adult today!

[That's right, it's his birthday - or the one that he and Dirk celebrate. The only one he's ever known, so the only one that counts as far as he's concerned.]

Oh, yeah, by the way, Kanaya, I finished that necklace for you! When do you wanna meet up?

[He... hasn't realized yet that Kanaya is gone. Late with your gifts again, Lloyd. Always late. :/ ]

But man, I've been looking forward to this birthday so much! Now that I'm eighteen, I don't have to go back to school!

Thanks! [Lloyd grins.] Yeah, you can definitely count on that. I'm going to do that for at least a week before I start thinking about getting a job.

But it's been so nice not having to do anything—I hate studying!! But maybe we wouldn't run out of food so quickly if Hanajima and I had an income...

Ugh, I know what you mean about studying. I'll be happy if I never have to pick up a book to study again.

What kind of job do you think you'd be good at?

You have the best excuse of all now—graduation!

Mm... well, I was working part-time at a convenience store and at a waitress back home. But as for after graduation, Tohru told me once I could be a good model, so I guess I'll try doing that.

Well... Sort of. [He looks sheepish.] I'm technically not graduating. I'm just finished.

A model? You mean, like a figurine?

[He stares. You've lost him. What kind of job is that?]

Really? You don't know? You know, like all those people who wear the clothes in advertisements and stuff.

...that's a real job? I thought those were just pictures of people who bought that stuff. You mean someone pays people to take their pictures?

Of course! You have to get the best people to wear the clothes so people will buy it. Mm, and I'm tall enough... and it's easier than trying to think of something else.

Huh. I don't really get it, but if you say people will do that, then... Why not? If that's what you want to do, then I say go for it! You can do anything if you try.

Hmm... you think? I wonder how I'd go about getting started.

What about you? What sort of job do you want?

Yeah, I do! What if you took some pictures of yourself and gave them to places you'd like to work?

[Nope, he has no idea how the model business works.]

I think I want to build things, or make things, like houses or boats or jewelry. Maybe someday I could even work my way up to armor or weapons, but I don't know if I'll ever be strong enough for that.

Not a clue. It's worth a shot, though, right?

Yeah, but it takes a lot of work to get that strong, especially for a human, and I don't know if I want to spend that much time working on it. I still like doing other things, too.

Well. I haven't actually tried that one, out of all the vandalising I used to do... but I definitely feel that strength at times.

Were you just born that strong? Or do you have to work out? What do you mean, vandalizing?

Well, of course you have to work out, but it's partly natural, too!

I used to be in a gang, thinking I was cool to do bad things, before someone helped me get my act straightened out.

Really? You seem really nice. I can't imagine you doing things like that.

Someone changed my life. If I hadn't met that person, I'd probably still be thinking I was cool doing things like that.
