Damn it, I think Zelos is in a sleep coma again. He's not the only one, either. Colette's still asleep- [At least that's what he thinks. He's a little out of the loop, completely unaware that he'd been in a sleep coma, too.] -and Dino was in one, and Zack's friend, and other people. It's like they're contagious or something.

Is that what's really going on? Are people just getting sick with something we've never heard about?

[Man, now he really wishes Professor Raine was here. Even if she didn't know how to heal it, he knows she could figure out what it is. Then maybe they could figure out what to do from there.]

[Ugh, research. Lloyd is more than happy to leave that in this guy's hands, especially since it means using the Dreamberry, which he's still not all that great at.]

That's a good idea. Maybe there's a clue we can use to figure out how to cure it.

Yeah, it makes sense. Would explain why people just drop and don't wake up no matter what we do, too. But Seph doesn't get sick. Not unless...[Zack pauses, then shakes his head. That can't be it.] He just doesn't. I'm not sure if either of us even can get sick anymore.

[Ah crap. Should have expected that.] It's...kinda hard to explain. [Deep breath, Fair. Deep breath.] Seph and me, we're SOLDIERs. That means we've got this stuff called Mako inside of us, and it helps us heal quicker than most people. It's supposed to keep us from getting sick, too, but it wears off after a while. If that's what's happened to Seph...

[He shakes his head again, and it should be obvious on his face that it's not good.],/small> Let's just say it would be a really bad thing.

Mako, huh? Is that like mana? [Except that mana doesn't exactly work that way. At least, he doesn't think it does. But it can help heal people if it's used for healing magic, so maybe?]

If it's worn off, maybe he just needs more. That sounds simple enough.

Instead of a world existing within dreams, this could be a completely different world—just like how my world is different from yours.

A simpler way to put it is try to imagine if everyone arrived in your world instead.

If that is the case, then we're not merely dreaming—we are actually living in this world some way or another.

It would be, if we were back home. But there's no Mako here, so I'm not sure what to do if that's the problem.

Oh! Yeah, that's what I'd been thinking. I've been to another world before, and it definitely wasn't a dream. I thought you meant another kind of dream world that wasn't literal.

I don't think that would...actually work, Lloyd. Mako has to be injected into a person for it to work, and I've never seen mana work that way. Not the stuff from our world, anyway. [And injecting an ether wouldn't help if they had any!]

I've never heard of a contagious coma, but then and again I've never heard of Somarium either, until I arrived here.

How long does it take Mako to wear off?

Yes. My world is connected to another world called Tethe'alla. That was where I was before I came here. Well, sort of. I was trying to get back to Sylvarant, so I guess you could say I was in between. [He scratches the back of his neck.] Or something like that. I don't really get how it works.

Maybe it's not the coma that's contagious. Maybe it's whatever's causing it.

If we could just figure out how they left, and how you came back, then... then anyone could visit or go home. You've done it, so there has to be a way.

Like I said, it's...kinda complicated. [Sheepish look. He doesn't know how to explain this. The one time Hojo would be good for something---.] Let's just say that Mako is mana's evil cousin and leave it at that.

Depends on the SOLDIER and on the batch. It can take about six month for it to wear off in Seph, but it wears off in me in about two months. [Siiigh.] Which might be a problem if I'm still here then.

[No. Hojo is never good for something. Even this. Simple explanations are better for Lloyd. Anything more complicated tends to go above his head. The teen still looks more than a little disturbed, but he can accept what Zack said.] ...got it.

[But now he really looks troubled.] I've been here five months, and I know people who have been here longer. If you guys don't find a way home before then... Isn't there anything you can do?

Ah, yes, that is what I had wanted to say. I was simply worried that you wouldn't be able to understand, so I tried to put it into simpler terms.
