Hey, everyone! Guess who's officially an adult today!

[That's right, it's his birthday - or the one that he and Dirk celebrate. The only one he's ever known, so the only one that counts as far as he's concerned.]

Oh, yeah, by the way, Kanaya, I finished that necklace for you! When do you wanna meet up?

[He... hasn't realized yet that Kanaya is gone. Late with your gifts again, Lloyd. Always late. :/ ]

But man, I've been looking forward to this birthday so much! Now that I'm eighteen, I don't have to go back to school!

My biggest goal has always been to find a way back home. I thought I'd figure that out pretty fast, so I didn't think about anything else. I kept telling myself that I'd find the Otherworldly Gate tomorrow. But I've been here eight months and I still haven't found anything. I don't want to give up, but... I guess I shouldn't ignore the fact that I might be stuck here for a really long time.

[He shrugs.]

So, I haven't thought about it as much as I could, but I'm going to now. I like making and building things, so that's probably what I'll do. Maybe I'll make jewelry and sell it! Or I could be a builder and help fix people's houses!

Yeah. My Dad's a smith. He taught me a lot, but I wasn't ever strong enough to do the bigger stuff. I'm pretty good at detail work, though, and small things like jewelry. Still not as good as him, but then it's pretty hard to beat a dwarf.

My father... Well, I guess he's a human, but I don't remember him. Dad took me in when I was small.

I see. And you've never met your father?

[Lloyd's not the best at explaining things, but at least there's some logic buried underneath it all.]

No. At least, not since I was three. It's probably safe to guess I never will, either. He might still be out there, but...

I think it's more likely that he died.

Fifteen. I should be turning sixteen this year.
