[There's a huge grin on Lloyd's face, the kind of grin you only give when you're pleased and excited and everything is right in the world, or when something amazing is happening.]

Hey, everyone! Guess who's officially an adult today!

[That's right, it's his birthday - or the one that he and Dirk celebrate. The only one he's ever known, so the only one that counts as far as he's concerned.]

Oh, yeah, by the way, Kanaya, I finished that necklace for you! When do you wanna meet up?

[He... hasn't realized yet that Kanaya is gone. Late with your gifts again, Lloyd. Always late. :/ ]

But man, I've been looking forward to this birthday so much! Now that I'm eighteen, I don't have to go back to school!

You've been here awhile then I take it?

About eight months, I think. What about you?

[He thinks a moment]

A year and a month..funny..doesn't even seem that it's been that long..

I know what you mean. It's kind of scary when you think about it, too, like one day you'll wake up and realize you've been here half your life. Like being here feels more normal than being in your own world.

Some things haven't changed about being here..but some have. It's still weird to think that I've been asleep that long..or maybe when we get back no time has passed?

I'm not sure what I believe about that. I mean, I know what people tell me about it, but somehow it still feels like there's more to it than that. This world doesn't feel like a dream to me.

School, homework, and classes feel real enough, so does the ground and plants don't grow overnight here.

Yeah.

[Lloyd smiles. Yuki obviously gets it.]

I guess we'll just have to keep trying to figure things out.

I hope we can.

[A nod.]
