1st Combo - [Video]

[A blur of red and black and a startled yell are the first things the Dreamberry picks up. The Dreamberry clatters as it hits the ground, the view spinning crazily, followed by a sharp thud and a low groan from somewhere off to the side.]

Ow...

[There's a soft scuffling as the speaker picks himself up off the ground, then...]

Man, talk about a rough landing! Is everyone all- Huh? Guys?

[Bewildered silence fills the air for a moment. Oh, look. Red boots in the Dreamberry's view.]

Where is everyone?

[The view shakes again, jostled by a careless foot.]

Huh? What's this?

[A red-gloved hand picks the Dreamberry up, then the camera comes into focus on a teenage boy's face. The worry in his warm brown eyes fades briefly as confusion takes its place. He studies the device for a moment, then frowns. With one finger he reaches out to poke something on the Dreamberry.]

I wonder what this-

[Click! The feed abruptly cuts off.]

Oh, I get it! I think I've seen something like that before. Only this is a lot smaller than that, um, hollow machine. It's magitechnology, right?

Uh--it might be?

I mean--normally I'd say no, but normal technology from my world doesn't do the whole 'dreams' deal.

I don't think mine does, either, but magitechnology's more of Tethe'alla's thing. Or Professor Raine's. I bet she'd know, but I'm not sure I'd want to ask even if she was here. [The idea that Danny probably doesn't have a clue what he's talking about hasn't occurred to him just yet.]

Wow, I don't know whether to pity you or envy you. You have more teachers, but you don't have to spend all day with just one.

I could say the same to you. You only have one teacher, but you also don't have to dash from class to class. *Or bullies, but that's less of a 'different worlds' thing than it is 'why does he have to be so much taller' thing.*

You have to go to different rooms for each class? Ugh. I have a hard enough time just getting to school on time. If I had to be on time to more than one class... and with more than one teacher...

And yeah, that's a major problem. I've gotten so many detentions for that, I'm not even laughing.

[Lloyd groans.] Nnggh... Detention... [He pauses, looking at Danny for a moment, then gives him a wry half-grin.] Nice to know I'm not the only one.

What do they make you do for detention in your world?

Well, in class I have to stand in the back and hold buckets of water, but after school, Professor Raine'll make me write lines or give me extra assignments, and she won't let me go home until I do them. [Which means he actually has to do them. Lloyd grimaces.]

*Frowns to himself, bewildered, and mumbling,* 'Buckets of water'?

Uh--a same of the last two, most of the time, but they also make us clean up messes from the last ghost attack.

[Lloyd misses that first mumbled bit - what's weird about holding buckets of water? - and instead gives a startled, somewhat alarmed blink at that end of Danny's statement.] Ghost attacks?

Our town keeps getting them.

Man, that's rough. How do you fight them back? Ghosts are pretty hard to attack physically. [He knows this from experience.] Are there magic users where you live?

Uh--no, not exactly.

My parents make a lot of ghost-fighting weapons, but we also have this one ghost that fights them back for us. He's Danny Phantom.

A ghost that fights other ghosts? [Surprise inflects Lloyd's voice.] I thought ghosts... [Well, no, that's not entirely true. Presea's sister, Alicia... She'd been a ghost, too, but she hadn't...

Lloyd frowns.] He's a... good ghost?

Yeah! I mean--yeah, he is.

Not everyone gets it, but he just seems to want to protect Amity Park--that's the town. He never tries to hurt anyone, and when the fight's over he just disappears.

[Lloyd can't help but be a little bit skeptical, even after seeing Alicia. He's had to fight too many ghosts himself.] Are you sure? I mean, have you seen him yourself?
