Something rustles and water sloshes, the sounds somehow almost desperate. After a few seconds, though, Lloyd groans again. Thunk! That, my friends, is the sound of a head hitting a wall.]

Damn it! Does anyone know how to get bleach stains out?

Good point. We do have to travel a lot, so clothes get dirty pretty fast. I'll go with black, then, if I can't fix the pink. [Lloyd perks up.] I bet Zelos would like it if he never had to worry about stains!

[Lloyd gestures with his hands toward his head.] Yeah, don't soldiers wear helmets? Doesn't it smash their hair? [He's never seen a uniform like that, and glowing eyes? Hey, that seems almost normal after having two companions whose eyes were red.]

[Zack chuckles a bit, rubbing his neck.] Well, most Seconds and Thirds wear them, but I was never a fan of them. But I'm guessing our ideas of SOLDIER are a bit different. See, where I'm from SOLDIER is a pretty elite group which three ranks: Third, Second and First Class. I use to be a SOLDIER First Class.

I thought soldiers were people in the army. I mean, that's what you called them all. If a soldier is something special, what do you call the regular ones?

Well, there's the normal army, that's the infantryman. Then you got us SOLDIERS who got mako enhancements and then the Turks that...well do all the other stuff. Spying and whatnot.

[Oh no, heroic pose might be a go.] Yeah, guess ya can say I am. Er...was. [Neck rub.] Sorta ex-SOLDIER now.

How can you sort of be an ex-soldier? Either you are or you aren't, right? Did you quit, or were you kicked out?

Liquid form of the Lifestream. The Lifestream is kinda of like the Planet's energy. Members of SOLDIER get mako enhancements. [He brings the Dreamberry closer to his face, So Lloyd can get a good look at his glowing eyes.]

No, more like betrayed. [Zack is still kicking himself for not getting a clue sooner that ShinRa was no good.]

So... mako is like mana. Got it! Although I don't think I've ever seen liquid mana before. [Solid mana, yes. Even mana bombs. But he hasn't seen mana in a liquid form yet. Hmm...

Then Lloyd's eyes widen.] Betrayed? What happened?

[Zack's smiles fades.] Well, the company I worked for had it's fingers in more sticky business than I thought.
