The dream starts off simply enough, with the figure of a glowering forevveraglub standing with arms crossed. The scenery around him is indistinct, perhaps a field or a forest. rainbowpalette, a girl, is standing in front of him. Neither one looks happy, but the girl is particularly upset. Eridan snaps something at Kanaya, who looks like she's almost in tears.

For a moment, the dream fuzzes and goes out of focus and...

Lloyd leans forward, smiling at Kanaya as he holds her protectively. "Don't worry," he says. "I don't care what Eridan says about the future. I'll make sure it never happens."

"Thank you, Lloyd." Kanaya smiles back, arms around his neck. "You're a really good friend."

And watching them draw close, seeing how happy they are, the only thing Eridan can do is sob. If only he'd been nicer to his friend, that could have been him in her arms!

[You are such a good friend to him, Colette. Too bad he doesn't quite get what kind of bullet he dodged. Because, really, Lloyd? Really? Saying things like that to a girl so openly and without any consideration for the state of her own feelings?

He is so lucky this conversation didn't blow up in his face.

He thinks about that for a moment, letting a slow breath out.]

Yeah... You're right. I can figure it out, and then... then maybe I'll know what to do. [He looks almost relieved.] Thanks, Colette.

[ A bullet may be dodged, but there was something inside of Colette that pained her. She was oblivious to it, of course, but the smallest flash of frown did appear.

Huh. That was... weird.

Just shaking her head now to dismiss any stray thoughts. ]

Yeah! I know you can do it. [ She pauses, her smile widening. ] You don't have to thank me.

[ The giggles just keep on coming! ] Oh nothing!

[Poor Colette. It's never fair, is it, having to deal with a boy who's only just now starting to notice things like girls and feelings, having to put up with his fumbling and awkward mistakes.]

Maybe not, but I'm still glad I talked to you.

[He just blinks.] Okay...

[ It may not seem fair, but to Colette it had never mattered. Sure he was a little spacey and quite as oblivious as herself, but Lloyd was still Lloyd-- her childhood friend. So she was going to be there for him, and no matter what, stay by his side. Even if that meant being the third wheel.

Because to Colette, as long as she was by his side, then she could be happy. ]

I'm glad... [ A tiny beat. ] So you know if you have any other problems, you can come talk to me anytime!

[ Just going to brush the okay with another smile; warm and confident. ]

[And it's okay, it's all right, because even if he makes mistakes trying to figure all of this out, he knows that he'll always still have his best friend.]
