I've done lots of camping! [Lloyd grins.] In fact, before I got here, my friends and I were on a journey that took us all over the world. We had to camp a lot.

That's really neat. What kinds of things do you do with it?

In my world, souls can give additional powers and strength. The more powerful one's soul is, the stronger they are. There are those who try to consume other souls to increase their own people, however, and that is forbidden. So it is up to us to defeat those who do.

That sounds... bad. None of those people are here, are they? Is there a way to protect yourself?

To save the world. [Yup, simple and matter of fact.] That's what it started out as, anyway. Then it changed to saving two worlds when we realized there was another one tied to Sylvarant.

No, except for Soul, Liz, and Tsubaki, but they are Weapons and are actually allowed to eat evil souls. [unless he wants to consider Gopher eating souls, but he doesn't think he's that much of a threat. just annoying.]

As for protecting yourself, the only way is to not die.

Yeah. I guess you could think of it like how Somarium's connected to more than one world, only in my world it's just two worlds: Sylvarant and Tethe'alla. That's because they used to be one world that got split. We just have to figure out how to put them back together now.

[Lloyd wrinkles his nose.]

They want to eat evil souls? Doesn't that taste bad?

Don't die. [He considers that for a moment, then nods. That sounds like sage advice to him!] Got it! I'll definitely work on that!

Soul said they didn't really taste much of anything. However, weapons can absorb the soul's power and increase their own. It is also due to their heritage that is they are capable of eating or absorbing a soul without being corrupted.

But if you put them back together, wouldn't you end up destroying them?

What... happens to a soul that's absorbed? Does that mean the person who it was is... gone?

[Indeed.]

Well you want to put the worlds back together right? Doesn't that mean they'll be one planet?

Basically, yes. That is why it is forbidden to consume an innocent soul. The taking of one's life is already unforgivable, but in my world, that also means consuming the soul.

Isn't there any other way to stop these people from consuming souls without a Weapon consuming their souls? No matter how bad someone is, I don't think it should ever be okay to... to erase someone like that.

What does that have to do with destroying them?

No, there is not.

You see, once a soul has been corrupted that much, it is nigh impossible to return them back to normal. There is more to it, as well. A corrupted soul will stop at nothing to continue to consume more power, and they run the risk of turning "kishin." This means that they can turn into a powerful, destructive being that will spread insanity and madness throughout the world.

That is why they must be eradicated before that happens. We already have one, we do not need more.

Okay, imagine the two worlds as...my fists. [he's holding up his hands to sort of demonstrate, so pretend with him here, Lloyd!] Your world is my right, and the other world is my left.

If they're supposed to merge together...[and slowly bring his hands together before they bump into each other.] Wouldn't they explode upon contact? It's like slamming two giant rocks together, isn't it?

If there isn't any way to stop them, then what about healing them? Or getting them to move on? Isn't there a world where souls are supposed to go?

[Lloyd watches Ace's hands and... wow, that's a disturbing thought.]

...I hadn't thought about it like that before. I always thought about it like... like if someone cut an amango in half, then put the two halves back together, or a puzzle someone pulled apart and used only half the pieces for each world. Once you put them back together, they'd still fit, though, right? It all used to be one world.

Yes, there is a place where innocent souls go to.

But unfortunately, there is no way to heal a soul once it has corrupted and fallen into madness. If there were other ways we would employ them, but there simply isn't. The taking of an innocent life and consuming the soul is as I said an unforgivable act. When that happens, the person has essentially become a monster. Not only does the soul change, but so does the person. Some may even physically change. That is the power of madness.

[sighs.]

I realize this may be difficult for you to understand, but that is the nature of my world.

Honestly I have no idea. If the worlds fit into each other, that would certainly make things easier, I suppose.
