I know spells revolving around the elements. Not many. A lot of it comes from darkness.

Whoa. You can use shadow magic? That's awesome! I don't think I've ever met anyone who can use darkness spells. Not even Genis!

Or, well, maybe I have, but people don't always tell me what kind of magic they're using when they cast it. [Especially if they're targeting him.]

It's long range, though, right?

I...[ He blinks for a brief moment. Different worlds, different meanings he guesses? ]

Yeah, I guess I do. It's a little bit of both actually. So we can practice long range and short range, depending on what you're looking for.

Even better. [He doesn't know if Eridan has any other tricks up his sleeve, but he wouldn't be surprised. The more things he can practice against, the better.]

Someplace where we won't hurt anyone or break anything important. [So, not in Somni, probably not in Espoir.] Maybe the floating mountain? [Even though it was where he'd fought Eridan, it was at least away from people and buildings. Nothing to break but trees.]

How about now, then? I can get to the warp pad in twenty minutes.

[He's curious because she mentioned it, but it's not the most important thing that she just said. He grins at her offer.]

What kind of fighting do you do? Are you fast?

No. Not right now, anyway. But I don't want to be in trouble if something happens again. That's why I need to train.

On my world, Materia are little balls of condensed energy from the planet that have magical properties. They can cast magic, summon beats to help you fight, or even heal you.

[She smiles back.] I'm predominantly a martial artist - hand to hand combat, if you will. And I'd like to think I'm pretty fast.

Hmm. I'm a swordsman. Is that going to be a problem? [He doesn't want to hurt her, and it seems like she'd be at a disadvantage.]

Maybe not a lot, but it's happened to me two or three times, and it might happen again. That's not counting the monsters that sometimes show up. It's a good idea to be prepared.

But I'm not really worried about that. Just this one jerk I fought.

You're being bullied?

Never been there. [ He pauses for a brief moment. ] But I guess we can go there. The only ones who might get danger is us. And the woodland creatures. [ Whichever exist out there. ]

Yeah, it is. At least, that's what started it. I want to be able to protect my friends. I can't do that if I can't even defend myself against someone like him.

[Lloyd blinks.]

No... Or, well, I don't think so. Bullying is when someone picks on someone who's weak, and I'm not weak. I just... wasn't good enough to beat him. Yet. [Determined.] But I'm going to train to become stronger so he won't beat me again.

[Click. Lloyd shuts the Dreamberry off, an eager and determined smile on his face. He only pauses long enough to make sure he has everything he needs - jacket, swords, shoes - and he's off.
