There! I-
[Locked from Eridan]
-did it! Good. That'll keep him from listening in on this. Thanks, Genis. I owe you one.
[Yup, somebody begged his best friend to show him how to lock. That done, he turns his attention on the Dreamberry - and Somarium in general by extension. His expression is very serious, and perhaps a little chagrined.]
Hey, everyone. I... kind of need some help. I need to get stronger, so I need to train, but I also need help learning how to fight magic users. [He makes a face.] Especially magic users that can fly.
[No, he's not talking about anyone in specific. What makes you think that?]
Does anyone want to spar? Or have any advice?

Date: 2011-09-05 08:14 am (UTC)seeing Lloyd free one sword, Ace expected he would use it to attack him. he had little choice but to swerve around, his blade sliding off one to parry the other before jumping back.
but he was still smiling—in fact he looked like he was enjoying this quite a lot.]
[action]
Date: 2011-09-06 11:25 am (UTC)He presses forward, going on the offensive this time. One sword swings across from the side, trying to catch Ace in an awkward position to defend. His other follows in its wake from the same direction, ready to take advantage if Ace occupies his sword with fending off the first.]

Date: 2011-09-08 11:34 am (UTC)But even the best can slip. He just needs to find an advantage, a weakness, a hole in Ace's guard. Maybe if he tries a double attack-
He's already acting on the thought before it's even finished, both swords striking out. It's a bold and reckless move, leaving him unprepared to defend, but sometimes the best defense is a strong offense. Ace can't take advantage if he's too busy fending Lloyd off!]

Date: 2011-09-08 10:54 pm (UTC)He's dead.]
[action]
Date: 2011-09-09 07:10 am (UTC)You did pretty well for a while there!
[action]
Date: 2011-09-09 11:05 am (UTC)When Ace pulls back, he takes a deep breath, then laughs sheepishly, lowering his swords.]
I shouldn't have tried that last attack. Man, you're really good.
[action]
Date: 2011-09-09 09:17 pm (UTC)But your attack wasn't completely flawed. Against someone as skilled as me it would have been trouble, but against some more of your level, it would have been all right. Most would probably just block rather than evade.
[action]
Date: 2011-09-10 12:08 am (UTC)[Lloyd ponders this for a moment.]
What would you have done?
[action]
Date: 2011-09-10 03:42 am (UTC)Of course, I was aiming for your neck, so if I had gone for your chest that might have been a little more difficult.
If you wanted to still try for a double attack, you should take advantage of the fact you have two swords. Instead of having both go toward the same target, you should try having one go to one location and the other aim for another, but still free to maneuver in case something like that happens.
[action]
Date: 2011-09-10 03:55 pm (UTC)Something like that?
[action]
Date: 2011-09-12 03:34 am (UTC)Here, we can try doing it slowly to see if it would work in practice.
[action]
Date: 2011-09-12 11:58 am (UTC)[He takes up position again, waiting only long enough for Ace to do the same, then he starts again, slower this time, but still following a natural rhythm. Parry, dodge, twist and... here comes the altered double-strike.]
[action]
Date: 2011-09-13 02:35 am (UTC)[action]
Date: 2011-09-13 03:09 am (UTC)You're right. I think that works a lot better.
You wanna go at it again?
[action]
Date: 2011-09-13 03:34 am (UTC)[action]
Date: 2011-09-13 04:09 am (UTC)Okay, let's start over and see what happens!
[Now... let's see if I can surprise him.]
[action]
Date: 2011-09-13 09:17 pm (UTC)[and getting into position.]
Why do you fight with two swords, anyway?
[action]
Date: 2011-09-14 02:11 am (UTC)[Lloyd shifts into position, lifting one sword first.]
If one sword has a power of one hundred, then two swords...
[The other one comes up.]
That's twice as much!
[action]
Date: 2011-09-15 12:36 am (UTC)I guess that could be true. But it won't mean much if you can't fight with them. What if you lose one? Do you know how to fight with one sword?
[action]
Date: 2011-09-15 02:38 am (UTC)[He exhales, grimacing slightly. Never fun admitting weakness.]
You'd probably wipe the floor with me.
[action]
Date: 2011-09-16 05:03 am (UTC)Most likely. But that's what this training is for, right?
[action]
Date: 2011-09-17 12:55 am (UTC)[If he sounds a little reluctant, that's because he is. He much prefers fighting in a style he's used to, where he actually feels competent.
Unfortunately, Ace has a point. Ugh, he's really not good at fighting with just one sword.]
